Geomview requires a Unix-alike environment to run. There are a number of different ways to provide a Unix-alike environment in Windows that Geomview can run in. Instructions for installing Geomview on Windows are available.

This is probably the most common question that people ask about Geomview. It's a natural one, considering the overwhelming dominance of the Windows platform.

The answer is that at the time Geomview was developed, Unix was the primary platform for any sort of serious 3D graphics work. In recent years that situation has obviously changed. Porting Geomview to Windows is a project that would probably take several person-months of work, and it's simply a matter of finding the resources to do that work. The Geometry Center, which funded the initial development of Geomview, is now closed, after the NSF canceled funding for The Geometry Center.

It depends on whether anyone is willing to contribute to its development --- either a programmer willing and able to do the work for free, or a company or some other organization willing to pay a programmer to do it.
