[ REQ 5851]: Problems with starting Geomview

I am hoping to use Geomview as a post processor for the finite 
element programs written by students.

I am running Geomview on an IBM Risc/6000 machine running AIX. 
However, I am accessing the machine through Windows 3.1 with LAN 
Workplace.

When I start up Geomview I  get an error

"X-Geomview currently supports only 24, 8, and 1 bit
        deep displays.  No supported display depth was found."

I there anyway to overcome this.
