Bill,
     The way external modules are handled is a mess; I'm trying to change
that at this very moment.
     Anyway the problem is that there is a .geomview file in the hinge
directory, so when you run geomview from there, it overrides the one
in your home directory.  It also disables the geomview main panel
(because I wanted hinge to look like a standalone program).  Try
running geomview from a directory other than the hinge directory.
