> Does [draw] slow things down by forcing an extra redraw?
I don't think so -- a window only gets drawn when something has changed.
So I expect the draw command will just perform the (single) redraw
before taking the snapshot rather than after.
Re-installing shouldn't be essential. The changes I know of were:
fixes for the problems you found
(src/bin/geomview/common/motion.{c,h},
src/bin/trigrp/O.sgi/Makefile)
preventing program crashes if a geomview command isn't completed
before end-of-file (e.g. missing ')');
(src/lib/lisp/lisp.c, src/bin/geomview/common/comm.c);
making keyboard appearance controls ("ae", etc.) operate on the same
settings as the Appearance control panel
(src/bin/geomview/common/event.c);
fixes for configuration bugs which caused geomview to look in the
wrong place for external modules ($geomroot/bin/sgi/sgi
rather than $geomroot/bin/sgi), so that $geomroot/bin/sgi
had to be in your search path to run the standard modules;
also the eucsyms module would not find its data files
(top-level "config", "Makefile"; new directory src/config;
src/bin/{geomview/common/main.c,eucsyms/*.c,hinge/*.c}).
